The Multi-Social Complex
Tennessee
Nashville
Designed around social Comfort of all different peoples of the Introverted extroverted spectrum, the Multi-Social Complex aims to solve workplace mental health problems. Using a variety of created spaces meant to satisfy each occupants preferred working condition, occupants can find their exact comfort among the building’s multiple levels. The complex is a multi-use building containing a restaurant, coffee shop, gym, and auditorium, but is primarily a remote work office facility. The Covid-19 lockdown forever changed the workplace causing a rift between employees that wish to be in the office and those that would rather stay home. The Multi-Social complex solves this problem for both employees by providing an atmosphere that caters to both extremes. The office facilities serve as a workplace subscription service where employers would be able to provide access to the facilities for their employees working in the city of Nashville. It features many building strategies that are known to combat mental health issues in buildings such as: ample natural lighting, outdoor spaces, and green spaces. The Multi-Social Complex provides a way to work remotely while still staying in a natural work environment. The rest of the program is meant to serve as the amenities that employees would have access to at home, with the coffee shop serving as a bridge between introvert and extrovert. On the far Introverted side occupants can find Isolation domes meant to resemble closed flower buds. On the far extroverted side occupants will find meeting rooms that can be reserved for team meetings. The higher floors serve naturally as more introverted areas; however, the highest floor of the extroverted side provides a community garden where occupants can reserve a plot and tend to their own plants before or after work is done. The Multi-Social Complex is meant to serve as an example of how to create mental health friendly offices and could be implemented in any city. With the constant advances in work-remote practices, remote office complexes will become far more common, and the Multi-Social Complex serves as an example of how to manage it.
